In the southwestern corner of the old city wall, nestled between the Judgement Tower and the Žički dvor manor, lies the renovated Minorite monastery. Since the renovation, the monastery has been home to the Maribor Puppet Theatre. Other performances and music events occasionally take place on the same stage. Since 1990, Maribor Pupper Theatre has also been organising the Summer Puppet Pier, an international annual puppet theatre event that takes place in August. The repertoire of the festival includes the best Slovenian and foreign puppet shows for children. They also organise performances, workshops, and exhibitions geared towards adults, so both you and your children can have a good time.
Every summer, the auditorium of the Puppet Theatre Maribor turns into an open-air cinema. The programme offers a variety of different productions from all over the world, and the films are accompanied by guests, music events, and exhibitions.
